Wayne Township resident Al Carrier expressed his frustration with the performance of the Wayne Township trustees, specifically Dennis Elchlinger, board chair, at the trustees' regular meeting Oct. 8.

"When you were a regular trustee, you were an alright guy," Carrier told Elchlinger. "Since you've become the chairperson, you've lost your mind."
Carrier pointed to Elchlinger approving paving 2,112 feet of Peterson Road without calling a emergency meeting or getting the other trustees approval at a public meeting as an example of poor governance.
The trustees said, however, that the issue had been discussed at previous meetings.
Carrier also brought in a printed copy of Google's asphalt volume calculator showing that if 277 tons of hot mix were used on the project, the asphalt would be 1.75-inches thick on Peterson Road.
Elchlinger said the asphalt is three-quarters of an inch thick.
"I feel like you've lied to us and I think you knew you were lying," Carrier said to Elchlinger.
Elchlinger responded to Carrier by saying he would never lie to the community and has no motive to do so.
Greta Wilt, a spokesperson with Barrett Paving, confirmed that the asphalt on Peterson Road in Wayne Township was between one-half and three-quarters of an inch thick depending on the placement.
